Enter Fantasia in the 1983 generational fantasy film...
This week on Weirdhouse Cinema, we discuss Wolfgang Petersen's 1984 adaptation of Michael Ende's 1979 novel The Neverending Story. It's a film with special resonance for children of the 80s and 90s, even alongside such other dark fantasy pictures of the time such as Return to Oz and The Dark Crystal. And such creatures!
Now, before I get into the music, I want to share a link to Count Ul De Rico's production art for the picture. It's a fascinating look into the designs that informed the final picture. There's some very surreal stuff in there -- plus a humanoid Gmork!
